The First Voice People Hear
If you’ve called Silver Linings Transitions in a panic, chances are Dawn Miskulin answered.
She’s often the first voice a nervous new client hears – someone who has never dealt with a move manager before, who doesn’t know what to expect, who may be embarrassed about the state of their home.
Dawn has a gift for making that first conversation feel less like an intake call and more like talking to a friend who already understands.
More Than a Manager
She’s been doing this for more than ten years. Dawn joined our team as a team member, worked her way up to team lead, and became our Manager in 2021.
In that time she’s helped shape client retention and satisfaction into two of the things we’re proudest of.
But ask anyone who’s worked alongside her, and they’ll tell you it isn’t her title that defines her. It’s the giggle you hear from another room. It’s the calm she brings into someone’s worst day. She has a remarkable ability to make overwhelming situations feel manageable.
A Career Built on Caring
Before Silver Linings Transitions, Dawn was a stay at home mom after spending years in management with Nordstrom. That background shows up in everything she does here – the polish, the patience, the instinct for making people feel taken care of even when logistics are complicated and stress is high.
She stepped away from that career to raise her daughters, and it turned out to be exactly the preparation she needed for this work.
The Moment That Says It All
One story captures why this job matters more than most people realize.
Years ago, Dawn worked with a single mom whose father had just died. She was also in the middle of a brutal divorce. The stuff in her home had taken over – not because she didn’t care, but because grief and crisis don’t leave much room for anything else. Her therapist was the one who suggested she get organizing help.
Dawn stepped in right around the time her own twin brother passed away and was going through divorce herself. Helping that client turned out to help Dawn too. And when the work was done, the client’s young son could finally have friends over.
That’s it. That’s the whole point of what we do.
So many of our clients carry shame about their homes, quietly, alone – enough that they stop letting people in. Watching Dawn change that for one family is when it became clear how much of a difference this work can make.
Strength Through Every Transition
Dawn has carried more than her share of hard seasons while showing up for other people’s.
Her mother passed away and then her marriage ended. Her twin brother passed away. And more recently, another very close family member took her to court over her home – the same home she’s lived in for twenty five years.
By the end of this year, her youngest daughter will have just started her senior year of high school, Dawn will be moving on to find a new place to call home. If you know of a rental coming onto the market in the area, we’d love to hear about it.
Her daughters have grown alongside her career here. Her oldest is heading into her sophomore year at SDSU and joins the team during school breaks. Meanwhile, her youngest is finishing high school next year. Somewhere in between carpools, moves, losses, and a business built on helping other people through their own transitions, Dawn has managed to stay the steadiest person in the room.
We’re lucky to have her. And if you’ve ever met her, you already know exactly what we mean.
