Meet Beth Barrett: Team Lead, Senior Organizer, and the Person Who Gets Me Organized

The Person Who Gets Me Organized

Every so often you get to write about someone whose story is so woven into your own. It’s hard to know where to start. That’s the case with Beth Barrett, a Silver Linings Transitions Team Lead and one of our Senior Organizers.

I started bringing Beth into my own home years ago, around the holidays or during stretches when life felt especially stressful. Like many of our clients I was struggling with clutter and staying organized. She was the person who could walk in and make it feel manageable again.

Beth has worked for busy moms who needed a better system, or professionals like me who could run businesses but couldn’t seem to run an efficient home. Of course our moving clients love her too!!

Seeing Value Where Others Don’t

She has a gift for making things feel manageable. Before she joined Silver Linings Transitions, she started noticing the flowers grocery stores like Trader Joe’s were about to throw out at the end of the day.

Rather than let them go to waste, she began collecting them and delivering them to senior communities. It’s a small thing, but it says a lot about how Beth sees the world. Nothing that still has value should be discarded, whether it’s a bouquet of flowers or a home full of memories.

Compassion Beyond the Job

Beth’s compassion also shows up in some of the hardest rooms she walks into. Outside of her work with us, she serves as a court-appointed guardian in difficult custody cases. She steps in as the adult responsible for protecting a child’s safety when the situation calls for it.

It’s demanding, emotionally heavy work, and it takes a particular kind of steadiness and care to do it well. Anyone who has worked alongside Beth won’t be surprised that she’s trusted with it.

A Small-World Connection

Before Silver Linings Transitions, Beth spent years as a manager at Nordstrom. In one of those small-world moments, she reconnected here with Dawn Miskulin, our Manager, whom she’d managed back in their Nordstrom days.

It’s the kind of coincidence that seems to happen a lot with Silver Linings Transitions.

Beth joined the team during the lockdown in 2020 and stumbled upon our team. When she showed up to meet me for the first time, she was carrying a notebook. She realized it had the words “silver linings” on it—not branded to us, but coincidentally marked with those words.

A Gift for Finding Treasure

It’s probably no surprise, given the Nordstrom background, that Beth is also hands-down the best dressed person on our team.

She was thrifting long before it became trendy, with an eye for finding something special in what other people overlooked. If you think about it, that’s the same instinct she brings to organizing homes and rescuing flowers. She has a gift for seeing what’s still valuable and giving it a second life.

Why Clients Love Beth

Clients tend to fall for Beth almost instantly, and it’s not hard to see why. She brings warmth, patience, and genuine care into spaces that are often stressful or overwhelming, the same qualities that make me trust her with my own home.

At home, Beth is a devoted dog mom to Milo, who no doubt benefits from the same care and attention she gives to everyone else in her life.

Helping People Find Their Place Again

We’re lucky to have Beth on our team.

She reminds all of us what this work is really about: helping people, and the things and people they love, find their place again.
